A short camping trip for the weekend at Sandy Cape staying at the recreation park, with two sections North and South with caretakes for each area. The facilities were simple and clean with camping areas divided up within surrounding bush, BBQ area's and the good old "long drop toilets", campfires were allowed and in most campsites there was already rocks from previous campfires, you did need to bring your own wood.
The distance from where we lived to our campsite was only 235 km's less than a three hour drive. We took Beau with us as they also allowed dogs on a lead. We set up camp and while pitching the tent discovered the ground was extremely hard and wished we had a mallet and stronger pegs, I think we bent over half of the pegs trying to set up, but the area was level With the campsite set up I took a walk to check out the beach to fly my new toy, Mavic Air 2 Drone and Nathan took Beau for a walk. When I came back Nathan had already made an acquaintance with a couple that took the site next to us and then also the caretaker. One of our friends arrived just after I got back and he set himself up and I went and paid a visit to the caretaker to check that fires were allowed (sometimes there are fire bans in place) and also let him know I had a drone and was following CASA regulations. |
