We awake to the sounds of the crashing waves and have the morning at leisure to unwind with beach sand between our toes. The beach stretches on uninterrupted for many kilometres and the thick indigenous beach forest is a haven for an amazing variety of birdlife. We set off after lunch heading south to Port Elizabeth.

An early rise for the day to catch the sunrise over the Indian Ocean at Crawford's Lodge, Nathan stayed in bed while I got up to take the pictures, when I got back there was a coffee made for me. A quick breakfast and off for another game drive, with the expectation of White Lions and an interaction with Cheetahs at a Private Game Reserve.
Our 4 wheel drive game vehicles were waiting for us so we all piled in, our guide's name was Jacques and we headed to the reserve, once we had all signed the indemnity forms we were on our way. Our first animals to see were some monkeys, they were a bit skittish and headed for the trees very quickly. We saw a range of Antelopes, a couple of female Ostriches before we came across a herd of Giraffes, there was a few young ones in the group. We then saw Bison and was driven to a section of the park that had 2 gates, one to be opened and closed before the second should be opened, while in this space we were told that this was where the White Lions were. We were driven to where there was White Lions and they are so much bigger than the lions we saw in Kruger. Once we left the enclosure we hopped out of the vehicles for a drink. We then took off back to see the Cheetahs before we were to head off. Once in the enclosure Jacques whistled for the cats and like any other cat they just lay around not answering to the call. There was two males and a female, we were told that the female could be patted/scratched anywhere while standing and lying, yet the males could only be scratched on the head if lying but standing we could give them a good scratch all over. The pictures show better of what we did. With this over we climbed into the bus and headed for Port Elizabeth. |
