This morning we journey through Swaziland into Zululand stopping en route to bargain for curios and souvenirs at the roadside markets. Our journey continues into the Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal where ancient traditions and modern cultures of both Zulu and Settler have combined into a vibrant society living in peace and harmony. Arrive this afternoon in the Umfolozi area for our overnight stay.

An easy 8am departure, our first stop was a candle making store plus roadside markets, very interesting to watch an owl candle being made by hand.  We left Swaziland at the southern end, yet again being exited out of one country and walking through No Man’s Land and seeing if we were welcome back in South Africa, we all got through.  On our travels we drove past Ghost Mountain, it got it’s name from a tribal elder throwing people off the top, apparently there are many, many people that were thrown over and their ghosts remain.  We stopped for lunch at Wimpys on our way to our next stop which was Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, pronounced totally different, it sounds like shushsloolie-imfolizia, or pretty close to that.  This is another 4x4 safari drive, with Patrick as our guide, our first animal we saw in the park was close to road kill, it was actually a Baboon that was probably killed by another Baboon in a fight. We completed the big five and saw the Rhino, a female White Rhino to be exact, I would not want one of those guys coming for us. 
Just around the bend we came across a small herd of Zebra’s and 3 Giraffes, we proceeded around the park seeing a multitude of animals, a couple of elephants in the distance but the best for us was two Lion’s stalking a Warthog, we saw the chase and the dust flying, not very close to us but we could see it going on, the Warthog got away. Another amazing day, where what we have seen is almost hard to believe we have had the opportunity to see…

Our next stop was Protea Hotel Umfolozi River, with yet again another meal that Nathan called sensational, I think the butterscotch trifle and also the toffee pudding that he had two helpings of made it sensational.
