East Arnhem Land

Time to hit the road again.

We have travelled over 5,200 km's in 2 weeks, top speed 138 was not me behind the wheel.....

Nathan behind the wheel today, time to face the road.  Saying “Broken Thing” does not cover what occurred about 125k’s down the track, not us but our friends, not good, Starlink again to some sort of rescue, with phone calls to insurance company and towing company all while standing on the roof of their 4WD, pictures tell the tale, with a towing cost of $25 per kilometre.  

The only way to move the camper off the road was to drag it

Their camper was not going anywhere unless on the back of a tow truck, so discussion was for us to go on and they would wait for the towie’s and go back to Nhulunbuy.  Off we went, with everything crossed that they could get fixed and on the road again and meet up possibly at Darwin.

​Nathan did the water crossing, we thought with no rain the water would be less, which it was however it was soft, seemed as if silt had be pushed onto the cement base.

The “Highway” was better than it was than last time, the graders were out, making it a little bit better.  The ducks were in a row for this section.

We had a few occasions where there were burn off's causing smoke over the road, coming from WA normally smoke like this and heat spots, is a cause for concern.

Not far from Bulman we discussed fuelling up and decided to fuel up at Mainoru (60km's away) only to discover the fuel pump was not working at Mainoru, we have a distance to empty showing as 61km. 

With the events of today it took us 10 hours again to get to Mainoru, so we booked a room (donger) for the night and had dinner there and decided if the fuel ump was not working in the morning our only option was to leave the camper and head back to Bulman, we should make it there not towing.​
